https://www.fi.edu/science-recipes/thaumatropes Your next project is going to be a little different--both in execution and submission. You are going to design and then construct a Thaumatrope.  A Thaumatrope is an optical toy that relies on the principle of Persistence of Vision. Persistence of Vision  is the phenomenon of the eye by which an afterimage is thought to persist for approximately one twenty-fifth of a second on the retina. Persistence of Vision is why movies and animation appear to move even though what you are actually seeing is a series of still images. This link takes you to a great historical examination of Thaumatropes: https://graphicarts.princeton.edu/2013/10/28/thaumatrope/ For an interesting example of Persistence of Vision, watch the video linked to below: https://www.exploratorium.edu/snacks/magic-wand Place a prepoderence of your energy on devising a creative solution...that means no birds-in-cages, fish-in-fishbowls, or anyt...

6th Project, 4th Quarter "Murals"

Image
Murals The word Mural originates from the Latin word “murus”, meaning  wall . Today, we can define mural art as any piece of artwork painted or applied directly onto a wall, ceiling or other larger permanent surface. Your challenge is to apply a conceptually relevant mural to an image of a building.   1) Read the short article about murals in the 1st Link below. 2) Examine a few links to mural-centric web pages (next 4 Links below or do your own research). 3) Find and download a copy-right free, high-resolution of a building. (Probably one with a big blank space on it somewhere). 4) Closely examine the building, the style of architecture and the neighborhood. Conceptualize what kind of image would work with the "canvas" you've selected. Look for visual tie-ins that will inform your concept. 5) Find or create the mural image and *apply it to the building using the digital tools you have available to you. https://www.widewalls.ch/wha...
